Kate Lorenz grew up here in Lawrence, Kansas. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA in French while working at the Lied Center as a student employee. She attended the University of Alabama’s Creative Writing program, earning an MFA in fiction and editing the graduate-run literary magazine, Black Warrior Review. Kate was thrilled to rejoin the Lied Center staff in 2017, and she has served as Senior Events & Audience Services Director since 2020.
Kate has been a board member for Lawrence Children’s Choir, Limestone Community School, and Stepping Stones Early Childhood Education. She has also served on the City of Lawrence’s Public Incentives Review Committee. Her fiction, nonfiction, and articles have been published in many print and online publications.
