Position Overview
The Lied Center’s graphic designer is in charge of coordinating and carrying out the creation and production for print and digital promotional and other materials for the Lied Center of Kansas, including overall branding for the organization, Friends of the Lied and engagement/education materials, as well as performance-related marketing.
This position is responsible for the creation or management of graphic design for:
- Marketing projects, which includes all promotional and branding materials for Lied Series event advertising, Friends of the Lied, engagement/education and some rental events.
- Design and maintenance for both the Lied Center main website and online styling and CMS for the ticketing website.
- Video commercial and short documentary production.
- Creating and posting information to the electronic sign.
- Print materials such as a brochure for direct-mail, event calendar sheet, print advertising, program shell and inserts, as well as posters and flyers.
- Creation of digital materials, such as images for email and social-media campaigns, invitations, website pages, e-mail signatures, slide shows, videos, signage and point-of-purchase displays for Lied Series performances, and the Friends of the Lied for external audiences and the KU campus.
- Maintaining a library of photography and images for past performances, events and design files.
- Providing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tracking and tag management for digital marketing in advertising and webcasting.
- Responding to and making changes suggested in regular reports from KU Information Technology policies concerning language and ADA compliance.
The graphic designer works in an advanced desktop publishing environment and manages a student graphic designer and a student webmaster.
The graphic designer will:
- Work with other marketing department staff and the administrative team to create an effective visual campaign for Lied Center promotions, Friends of the Lied and overall branding.
- Develop the design concepts that will most effectively communicate that message.
- Prepare final artwork for the web, and in case of printing for print vendors.
- Identify and implement ways to improve design products and processes.
- Make critical and informed decisions about the selection of imagery for performances to create a consistent and coordinated campaign look for the performance season in all marketing materials, in all media.
